Trefoil Treasury 

1. Getting Started - Each term, every girl receives 20 Trefoil Tokens (TTs) to kick off their account. You can track their earnings across the term, and jobs using the provided spreadsheet, and at the end, they’ll receive a personalised payslip breaking it all down.

2. Earning TT - Girls earn TTs by showing up prepared (bringing uniform, participating actively, leading patrols), completing badges and challenges, volunteering at events, stepping into leadership roles, and simply going above and beyond. On the flip side, tokens can be taken away for behaviour that doesn’t meet your unit’s agreed expectations, helping encourage positive habits.

3. Wheel of Life​ -  Of course, nothing in life is guaranteed, and that’s where the Wheel of Life comes in. Every time a girl wins a game, she gets to spin the Wheel of Life. Some are silly or frustrating (like “Your dragon ate your homework –5TT”), others are brilliant surprises (“Market Bargain! +10TT”) helping to build resilience and humour around financial ups and downs. To balance the risks, girls can purchase optional insurance each term at different levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold), which protects them against major losses.

4. Job Board (Contact me for my full list of examples!) -  Girls can also apply for Trefoil Treasury jobs each term. These are optional but rewarding roles like Patrol Leader, Social Media Manager, or even Guiding Royalty (for those working on their Queen’s Guide Award). Applications can be completed using the included worksheet, a brilliant opportunity to build real-world employability skills. Once appointed, girls earn weekly wages in tokens and might even be rewarded with pay rises or promotions for going above and beyond.

 

5. Payslips - At the end of the term, each girl receives a payslip summarising everything she earned. Before she can spend her tokens, she must calculate and pay two things: Trefoil Tax and Trefoil Tenancy. Trefoil Tax is set at 10% of her total earnings. Trefoil Tenancy introduces the concept of budgeting long-term: girls can choose to rent for 10TT per term, or take out a mortgage for 12TT per term (with the addition of owning their home in their final year, meaning FREE final year of savings)

6. Trefoil Marketplace - After all that, it’s time to head to the Trefoil Marketplace. Here, girls can spend their hard-earned tokens on real Guiding items, from badges and stationery to hoodies and mugs. The marketplace is fully customisable, and we’ve included an example with suggested prices based on a token-to-pence ratio (1p = 1.5TT).
