Trefoil Tales
This collection began with a spark, a Facebook post by the son of Joyce Young, who was searching for people to help identify the Girlguiding badges his mother had collected. That little call for help drew me in, and before I knew it, I’d become (happily) obsessed with collecting, identifying, and preserving the history of these beautiful badges and the stories of the individuals behind them.
I’m incredibly lucky to now own some of Joyce’s pins myself and with them, a connection to a legacy I’m honoured to continue. Every badge carries not just thread, but the memories of the women who worked hard to earn it. This archive is also a personal way for me to keep track of the badges I’ve collected, how they were earned, and the journeys they represent.

Keeping the Adventure Alive
At Hummingbird HQ, we believe in sharing the adventure and making free resources to support as many units as possible. In 2023, we nearly had to close all our units due to rising costs and losing our hall. Every donation, big or small, helps keep our units running, keeping our guiding light alive and allows me to continue creating free resources for leaders everywhere.
