How to Play

1. Watch the Newsflash -  Begin by reading aloud or displaying the Breaking News introduction, explaining that Gigi the Dragon has gone missing on a global Girlguiding adventure and needs help to recover her lost treasures.

2.   Explore the World – Around the hall set up tables representing different countries. Each table has a country card explaining the activity. Girls may visit countries in any order and choose which activities they would like to try.

3. Complete Challenges – Girls can work alone or with others. Leaders should encourage teamwork, kindness, and trying something new.At each station, girls complete a challenge inspired by Girlguiding in that country. Activities are designed to be simple, inclusive, and mostly self-led.

4. Collect Treasure – When a challenge is completed, girls collect a piece of Gigi’s treasure before travelling on to their next country. This could be a stamp for their passport, a flag bead for their friendship bracelet, a paper puzzle piece of the final newsflash.

5. Final Update - Finish by gathering everyone together and reading the Closing News Update, revealing that Gigi has been found and celebrating World Thinking Day together.

Keeping the Adventure Alive

At Hummingbird HQ, the goal is to keep resources free, accessible and available to leaders nationwide after a challenging period for my own unit, when rising costs and uncertainty around meeting spaces made it clear how fragile access to guiding activities can be. That experience shaped a commitment to sharing resources openly so that more leaders can be supported without added cost or barriers. Every donation, big or small, helps keep Hummingbird HQ running and enables the creation and sharing of new, free resources with leaders everywhere.
